reset-last-child text-left\">\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El estatus No Inmigrante U (Visa U) est\u00e1 reservado para las v\u00edctimas de ciertos cr\u00edmenes, que han sufrido abuso f\u00edsico o mental y brindan ayuda a las agencias de orden p\u00fablico y oficiales gubernamentales en la investigaci\u00f3n o prosecuci\u00f3n de actividades criminales. El Congreso cre\u00f3 la visa de No Inmigrante U mediante la aprobaci\u00f3n de la Ley de Protecci\u00f3n a V\u00edctimas de la Trata de Personas y Violencia (incluyendo la Ley de Protecci\u00f3n de Mujeres Inmigrantes Abusadas) en octubre de 2000. Esta legislaci\u00f3n est\u00e1 dirigida a fortalecer la capacidad de las agencias del orden p\u00fablico para investigar y procesar judicialmente los casos de violencia dom\u00e9stica, abuso sexual, tr\u00e1fico de extranjeros y otros cr\u00edmenes, a su vez que protege las v\u00edctimas de los cr\u00edmenes que han sufrido abuso mental o f\u00edsico sustancial producto de dichos cr\u00edmenes y est\u00e1n dispuestas a ayudar a las autoridades del orden p\u00fablico en la investigaci\u00f3n y prosecuci\u00f3n de la actividad criminal. La legislaci\u00f3n tambi\u00e9n ayuda a las agencias del orden p\u00fablico a dar mejor servicio a las v\u00edctimas de acto criminal cualificado.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ha sufrido abuso f\u00edsico o mental sustancial como resultado de haber sido v\u00edctima de un acto criminal.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tiene informaci\u00f3n acerca de la actividad criminal.\u00a0 Si es menor de 16 a\u00f1os o no puede proveer informaci\u00f3n debido a una incapacidad, su padre, tutor, o un representante legal (next friend, en ingl\u00e9s) puede poseer, en su nombre, la informaci\u00f3n relacionada con el crimen (consulte el glosario para ver la definici\u00f3n de \u201crepresentante legal\u201d (next friend).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"
